Volunteer as a Course Rater
What Course Raters Do
As a course rater, you’ll work with experienced raters to evaluate each hole beyond the scorecard using precise measurements and established rating standards. Teams assess distance, elevation, terrain, penalty areas, green complexes, and other obstacles that affect how a course plays for scratch and bogey golfers. These findings help maintain accurate Course Rating™ and Slope Rating™ figures for CGA member facilities.
Before serving as a course rater, you’ll complete training and certification through the CGA. As part of that training, you’ll study The Course Rating System Guide™ and receive specialized instruction in World Handicap System measurement methods, obstacle factor evaluation, and on-course fieldwork.
