What is a Course Handicap™?

For handicap purposes, a Course Handicap is used to determine the number of strokes that a player receives (or gives) on any golf course and for the correct application of net double bogey and net par adjustments.

Course Handicap represents the number of strokes a player receives, before handicap allowances, from a specific set of tees as determined by the Slope Rating and the difference between Course Rating and par. This is the number used to adjust hole scores for net double bogey

Course Handicap Calculations:

Note: Rounding to the nearest whole number is the final step of the calculation

For an 18-hole round:

Course Handicap = Handicap Index x (Slope Rating ÷ 113) + (Course Rating - par)

For an 9-hole round:

Course Handicap = (Handicap Index ÷ 2) x (9-hole Slope Rating ÷ 113) + (9-hole Course Rating - 9-hole par)
